This was the family hame of John and Ann Champion between 1850 - 1857, and from 1863 up until Ann's death in 1873.

They raised six children at Slew Cottage; John Beer, Mary Ann, Thirza, Elizabeth, William and Samuel.

A sliding door retained as a feature to the property adjacent to Clifton House. Thirza's husband Willian Slee was a Carter by profession, the sliding door most likely was the entrance to stables where he would have kept his horse(s) and cart.
